Trained Grays in Aberdeen; on the advice of his friend J D Ferguson (Scottish colourist), Laurie moved to France. In fact he spent most of the 1950's living in St Paul de Vence near Nice and returned to Edinburgh in 1960. His work is loose and employs a heavy impasto technique.True to his Scottish roots his works shows a Northern colour range as in this example with cool tones in sky and sea, £350.
